ETSY STORE 2020

Sutchi’s

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, I launched an Etsy store named Sutchi’s to support myself financially. Leveraging my design skills, I created and sold custom Nintendo Animal Crossing villager cards, which became a significant source of income during this period. Despite the eventual closure of the store due to legal reasons, Sutchi’s was a testament to my resilience and ingenuity.

The Challenge

With the onset of the pandemic, I faced financial difficulties due to the lack of a stable job. Recognizing a market demand for custom gaming accessories, I decided to create and sell Animal Crossing villager cards on Etsy. This project aimed to provide a unique product to a dedicated fanbase while helping me cover essential living expenses.

Design and Development

I utilized Adobe Illustrator to design the cards, ensuring each card was visually appealing and accurate to the characters from Animal Crossing. The cards were embedded with NFC tags, allowing users to scan and use them in the game via a pirated app.

  1. Process: Created detailed card designs, printed them on high-quality card stock, and manually attached the NFC tags.
  2. Sales: Achieved 50 successful transactions, providing a critical source of income during the pandemic.
  3. Customer Satisfaction: Received positive feedback for the quality and functionality of the cards.

Production and Packaging

The production process was hands-on and meticulous. I focused on delivering a premium customer experience by packaging each card with care to ensure they arrived in perfect condition.

  1. Shipping: Managed logistics to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of orders.
  2. Financial Stability: Generated enough revenue to cover rent and essential expenses during a challenging period.

Key Learnings

  1. Creativity and Resilience: Demonstrated the ability to innovate and create a viable business under challenging circumstances.
  2. Design Skills: Enhanced my skills in graphic design and product development using Adobe Illustrator.
  3. Entrepreneurial Experience: Gained valuable insights into running an online store, from product creation to customer service.
